Regional & German cooking

Home-style German and regional cooking around the market square of the Oberstadt — next to the town hall at the Ratsschänke, or at Zur Sonne, an inn whose history goes back to 1569 — on the castle hill, and in a half-timbered mill estate in Wehrshausen.

Cafés & patisseries

Coffee-house culture since 1908 in the Reitgasse, the Klingelhöfer patisserie, bagels opposite the University Library and cake at the top of the Spiegelslust tower. Café Wertvoll and the Klingelhöfer were already recommended by the old VisitMarburg.com.

  • Spiegelslust Tower CaféHours
    Café in the Kaiser-Wilhelm-Turm on the Lahnberge, run by a non-profit association since 2005; climbing the 36 m tower is possible only during the café’s opening hours. Winter hours (November–February) shown; the café also opens on Mondays from 13:00. From March to October it stays open until 19:00. The 36 m tower can be climbed only while the café is open.
